Brush Creek Nursery School (Incorporated as Brush Creek Family Services) is a private, nonprofit school supported by tuition and fund-raising. Its name is derived from the original location on Brush Creek Road. When the school opened 50 years ago, it was the first state-licensed nursery school in Santa Rosa. The school retained the name after it moved to a larger space on Badger Road, where Brush Creek borders the property.
In 1982 the school survived a tragic fire which destroyed the building. The determination of the Board and staff, with the support of families, provided the wherewithal to relocate while the Badger Road school was rebuilt. In the summer of 1986, Brush Creek was one of the first Northern California preschools to become nationally accredited for its quality program. Fall of 2009 marks the school's 50th anniversary.
