Brush Creek Nursery School (Incorporated as Brush Creek Family
Services) is a private, nonprofit school supported by tuition and
fund-raising. Its name is derived from the original location on Brush
Creek Road. When the school opened over 30 years ago, it was the first
state-licensed nursery school in Santa Rosa. The school retained the name
after it moved to a larger space on Badger Road, where Brush Creek borders
the property. The school became a nonprofit corporation and expanded its Board
of Trustees in the early 1970's. It is guided by a eleven member Board of
parents and community representatives elected to two year terms. In 1982 the school survived a tragic fire which destroyed the building. The determination of the Board and staff, with the support of families, provided the wherewithal to relocate while the Badger Road school was rebuilt. In the summer of 1986, Brush Creek was one of the first Northern California preschools to become nationally accredited for its quality program. | |
